How we work

How a project runs at GrepBit, from the first look at what you have to looking after it once it’s live. The stages are the same whether we’re building a mobile app or rewiring an office network.

Five stages

  1. Assess

We look at what you already run: the code, the servers and accounts, and the people who use them every day. Nothing gets rebuilt that only needed fixing.

You getA short written summary of what exists, what’s fragile and what to tackle first.

  2. Plan

Scope, architecture and cost are written down and agreed before any work starts.

You getA written quote with scope, cost and timeline.

  3. Build

Work happens in short cycles. Each one ends with a version you can try on your own phone or laptop, so feedback arrives while it’s still cheap to change course.

You getA working version to try at the end of every cycle.

  4. Launch

Deployment, data migration and handover, with documentation your own team can follow.

You getThe live system, the accounts and access in your name, and the documentation.

  5. Support

Monitoring, updates, backups and fixes for as long as you need them, or a clean handover to your own team.

You getSomeone to call when something breaks.

Ways to work with us

Pick whichever fits. A project can move straight into support once it’s live.

Project
A defined piece of work, such as a website, an app, a migration or an office network. Scope, cost and timeline are written down and agreed before it starts.
Support after launch
Updates, backups, monitoring and fixes for as long as you need them, whether we built the system or inherited it.
Consulting
Advice before you commit: which stack or vendor to choose, what to automate, or what shape your current systems are in.
Under NDA
Any of the above as a confidential engagement, with access limited to the people working on it.

What helps from your side

  • One person who can answer questions and make decisions.
  • Access to the systems involved, such as hosting, domain and app store accounts.
  • Feedback at the end of each cycle, even if it’s only “looks fine”.
  • Any rules we need to work within: deadlines, budgets, data that can’t leave the country.
